Horse Racing Fans Are Using Thoroughbred Analytics for Horse Racing Analysis and Making Selections for this Summer’s Million Dollar Stakes Races

This is an exciting time for horse racing enthusiasts as the next 30 days contains three races, not including the one that recently took place over the weekend, each awarding 1 million dollars to the horse that come in first place. Huge purse events entice large crowds and many of these people will be trying to predict winners against odds. The first million dollar race of the summer season was the “Haskell Invitational Stakes” race and it took place over the weekend at Monmouth Park located in Oceanport, New Jersey. This year’s winning horse, Coil, snagged the 1 million dollar purse in exciting fashion coming from last to first. Monmouth Park first held the Haskell in 1968 as a race for older horses, but in 1981 they changed the race for the younger faster horses and added a gold trophy and a 1 million dollar grand prize for the winning horse. The “Haskell Invitational Stakes” received heavy attention both at the event and those watching on TV. This race was broadcast on ABC during primetime, leading many individuals who may not normally follow horse racing to be involved and make their own predictions. Located in a suburb near Chicago, Illinois, the “Arlington Million” will be the second of the Million dollar stakes races for the NTRA (National Thoroughbred Racing Association) summer season, on August 13, 2011. One of Saratoga’s nicknames is the ‘Graveyard of Champions’ because it has hosted many of the most famous and exciting upsets in horse racing history. Prior to that historic race in 1938, the Del Mar race track had been struggling to gain attendance until Seabiscuit won by a nose in front of a record breaking crowd.

This August 28th, will mark the 20th anniversary of the “TVG Pacific Classic Stake” hosted annually with an attendance surpassing 40 thousand fans. The summer season begins at Del Mar in mid-July at 2:00 PM (PST) when the bell sounds and the starting gates open for the first race. All first race predictions have been placed and as the horses charge down the track kicking up dirt, the attendees will hear the Del Mar announcer make his annual call, “And there’s a roar from the Del Mar crowd as the 2011 Del Mar meet is underway…”

The Del Mar race track got their famous slogan, “Where the surf meets the turf,” due to its location adjacent to the Pacific Ocean making it an ideal destination for anyone to visit. Over half a million people (summer attendance 662,521 for 2009) will pass through the Del Mar race track’s arched entrance during the 43 day season.
